The Vail Village Shops
Vail is one of the finest places to go shopping in Colorado—its selection of stores runs from rugged to exclusive all while the town’s location at the foot of a mountain makes for a dramatic backdrop. You may find the atmosphere is quite different from other shopping centers you’ve visited: much of the town is especially friendly for pedestrians, with heated walkway streets and plenty of lighting feel free to browse late into the evening! While cars aren’t allowed in these areas, a free bus system can transport you around all of the Vail Valley to enjoy all of the Vail Village shops.
Just a short distance away are the Outlet Stores at Silverthorne. The Outlet Shopping Express shuttle is a convenient and affordable way to access over 50 top-name brands at the Outlets. Visit the Outlet Shopping Express website for 2015 routes. Their online reservation system is an easy way to reserve your spot. Art Galleries
As paintings can leave a different impression on each of their viewers, the many Vail art galleries allow visitors to leave renewed with a fresh perspective on their surroundings. Inside each, you’ll find dramatic scenes of nature and wildlife inspired by the beautiful Rocky Mountains, backed with a sampling of international talent that reflects our stature as a destination known and renowned the world over. This is partly due to the large number of galleries that can be found in Vail: over 20 are listed within the concentrated center of Vail Village, between Vail Street and Bridge Street. A few highlights are the Masters, Cogswell, and Claggett / Rey galleries which are all good places to start. Art on a Whim has also been noted for breaking from the norm with art that’s meant to be especially playful and fun!
Art lovers should also keep their eyes open for the Vail Arts Festival and Art on the Rockies. Held in the summer months, these annual events present dozens of booths featuring everything from paintings to pottery and bronze sculpture, plus family-friendly food and live music.
